Window installation within the insulation layer of a building envelope represents the thermally optimal positioning. Window mounting systems are designed to facilitate the energy-efficient installation of windows in front of the masonry, within the thermal insulation layer. These systems help minimise installation-related thermal bridges while ensuring a secure and structurally reliable connection between the window and the wall assembly. The Passive House Institute provides the thermal characteristics of these systems, to assist in the evaluation and documentation of thermal bridges.
